These were once called “funeral cookies” as Aunt Othelia made them to bring to the house of the grieving after someone died. She asked, fairly practically we think, that when they were made after she was gone they not be called that anymore. Thus at her funeral Aunt Othelia’s Curtain Calls were born. Enjoy this salty/sweet treat and be careful, they disappear faster than a limited run off-Broadway.
